About Us
A vision for United East Africa
JEJO Foundation for Democracy, Peace and Development was founded on a simple but powerful belief: that patriotism can be a force for unity rather than division. We work across East Africa to build a generation that sees the region as home.
Josiane Umulinga
Our Founder
From Personal Journey to Regional Movement
Josiane Umulinga founded JEJO Foundation with a vision born from lived experience. Understanding the deep wounds that misguided nationalism can inflict on communities, she set out to prove that loving one’s country doesn’t require hating one’s neighbor.
Today, she leads a growing movement of young people across East Africa who are reclaiming the meaning of patriotism—building bridges across borders while celebrating the rich diversity that makes the region unique.
"True patriotism means wanting the best for your country while wishing the same for your neighbors. This is the foundation of lasting peace."
Mission, Vision & Values
